1800 ES 3506 Automatic for sale: California White, Blue Interior

$19,900 ono.

3506 is very original, and its only real issue is that it needs a new coat of new paint.  The previous re-spray is coming away in a few places.  3506 goes like a charm and is great fun to drive.  I drove it across the Nullabor from Toogoom in Qld!  Never missed a beat.  It's been my daily driver for around 5 years.  And it's a better car now than when bought, with work having been done to the gearbox (reconditioned automatic), and suspension, brakes and injection systems have all been improved by Swedish Car Co.  It had to go over the pits to be registered in WA - we replaced the indicator cylinder and the ball joints.  Swedish suggested the asking price. 

I have history from new - the car was originally bought from Volvo Exports in Gothenburg, driven in Europe, them imported to Newcastle, NSW, by an engineer - though there's a service history gap due to a fire at the Viking Motors.  I have the list of owners.

I may be able to drive the car to the East, if the buyer covers fuel costs.  Or it can be put on the train at buyer's expense if they're an Eastern Stater.  If I was the buyer, I'd drive it myself!  Good way to get to know the car. Pickup is Perth.

FOR SALE (four cars)

1969 Volvo 122s 2 door, Targa Tassy preped and raced complete in 2001, the mechanicals have been raced in 1996,'98 and '99. They were freshened for 2001. We came 4th in class (up to 3 ltr) behind a 3 ltr Marcos, and two 2.8 240Z's! Not too dusty considering I shared the driving with the first time navvy. 1998 brought us 7th in class.

I've owned this car since 1985(I think),I have full history including the log book.

The modifications to this originally 2 litre, 4 speed car are as follows; engine 2.1 litre fully gas flowed, pollished, 2x45 dcoe's, extractors, LSD, 4 wheel disc's, adjustible Koni's all round.

It has a plastic Halda twinmaster (period), lovely period Junghans stopwatch, Trik alloy rollcage (I think they're still legal?), Protipo wheel, Terratrip terraphone professional, custom made 100 litr fuel tank (not cell) repositioned behind the rear seat (in the boot).

Volvo 5 spoke alloy wheels, Sparco 4 point harnesses, bought for the '01 event, drivers seat is a very comfortable, non-descript brand that somehow keeps getting passed by Cams!, the navvy's seat is a crappy RPM that you would probably replace. The floor has alloy checker plate as does the boot.

The car was painted in the wrong colour green and was'nt particularly well done, though looks fine from 2 feet. Some of the bright work has not been replaced but is included, as are the very heavy bumpers.

This is a well prepared, competitive little car. I'd start negotiations at $22,500.The car will need some fettling re the brakes and tuning and getting rid of the crappy Toyo's and is club registered and blue plated.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1979 Volvo 242GT. This special-historic car competed in the '79 Repco reliability event, by Harry Jensen, and was rolled in FNQ. Subsequently bought by the then Townsville Volvo dealer whose name escapes me, and has stayed up here since. It has a great deal of local event history, mainly in the above and Charters Towers area.

The car needs to be finished bodily-I bought it from T/ville with a slight roll. A donor car was supplied and the damage repaired to factory specs. It needs paint, windscreen, completion and fettling. Some history goes with it (not the original logbook though) and can be viewed on YouTube (I think) in a 1 hour special of the 1979 Repco-prior to it's exiting.

It, apparently according to a rally mate, goes like a shower of $%^*,I have a brand new fuel tank (not cell).

The car has twin 45 dcoe's,4 speed o'drive 'box,Lsd,4 wheel disc's MANUAL steering, full steel cage (original?)Halda twinmaster plastic and light, various other rally prep items including electrics and handbrake, period Recaro Freeway recliners and RPM straps. I'd like to get around $7500 for this historic car which, when finished, would be worth quite a deal more.
